Hardened Media Converters
When networking equipment is located outside a climate-controlled environment, it needs to be hardened to protect it against temperature swings, dust, dirt and moisture. This network equipment must survive cold and hot temperatures – ranging from -40°F to 167°F (-40°C to +75°C). Hardened devices can also be sealed against the dirt, dust and moisture with an enclosure that is rated on the ingress protection (IP) scale (for example IP30 certifies that an enclosure will not allow contamination by items larger than 2.5 mm.)
Hardened media converters allow enterprises to seamlessly connect from one type of media, or cabling, to another – typically copper to fiber in harsh environments such as a factory floor or outdoors. Hardened converters provide an economical path towards extending the distance of an existing network, extending the life of non-fiber-based equipment, or extending the distance between two like devices. They can also facilitate the use of fiber cabling in industrial applications where there are EMI noise challenges.
Transition Networks provides this economical solution for your network through our hardened media converters. Our converters are available in two form factors, mini and standard size, to provide the high-performance flexibility based on your network needs. Our converters are also available in a variety of protocols including: Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial, DS1, DS3, and POTS to provide the ideal fit for your network.
