Fast Ethernet (100Mb) Media Converters
Fast Ethernet (IEEE 802.3u) is an extension of the switched Ethernet standard and has a maximum data rate of 100 Mbit/s. Fast Ethernet over fiber is referred to as 100Base-X and operates over UTP copper or optical fiber cabling. It is the first Ethernet standard created specifically to operate in a star wired bus topology. There are a number of Fast Ethernet standards for copper, including 100Base-TX, 100Base-T4 and 100Base-T2, 100Base-T1 and 100BaseVG. There are a number of Fast Ethernet standards for fiber, including 100Base-FX, 100Base-SX, 100Base-BX10 and 100Base-LX10.
Fast Ethernet media converters allow enterprises to transparently connect one type of media, or cabling, to another – typically copper to fiber. Bridging the gap between legacy copper infrastructures and fiber growth, Fast Ethernet converters provide an economical path towards extending the distance of an existing network, extending the life of non-fiber-based equipment, or extending the distance between two like devices.
Transition Networks’ Fast Ethernet media converters are ideal for bridging the gap in your network. Our converters come in multiple form factors, including chassis-based slide-in cards, stand-alone converters, and mini converters, allowing the most high performance flexibility for your network. Our multi-rate converters can also future-proof your network through the use of multiple protocols, such as 10/100/1000Base converters. These converters allow you to connect to your current legacy network while offering scalability for future improvements in your network without the need to purchase and install new equipment.
