Add/Drop CWDM Modules
Coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) technology allows enterprises and service providers to increase the bandwidth capacity of a fiber optic infrastructure by utilizing existing fiber pairs. CWDM combines multiple signals at various wavelengths for transmission over fiber cables. CWDM technology is used to build transport networks across a campus or in service provider networks. When an intermediate location on that backbone needs to be part of the network, an add-drop module is used.
CWDM optical add/drop modules allow for intermediate locations to easily access the common fiber segment linking all the network nodes together. Wavelengths that are not specifically added or dropped simply pass through the add/drop module and continue on to the next network node. Additional add/drop modules can be added in the event that more than one intermediate location exists or if multiple wavelengths are required at one location. One-channel add/drop CWDM modules have an operating wavelength of 1303.5nm ~ 1616.5nm and a center wavelength of 1470nm ~ 1610nm.
